Done! Thanks a lot Now we're already 10!

I'm a bit busy for the next 1-2 hours. So updates might be a bit delayed...

This is the first time I contributed a translation. I think it's pretty easy to do. Because my language was not already there I just took the Danish one and worked with that in a text editor.

Later on I read that there are .po editors available. Do they make the job even easier? I'll try that tomorrow on the stable branch if someone hasn't done it for dutch by then.

Thanks for the opportunity to contribute...

If you edit an existing translation in transifex you get a nice web interface to do all the editing. So editing the text file is only needed if it does not yet exist. I think here transifex should provide something where I can say file_xyz is the template for a new translation. This way if you would create a new translation you could start editing directly in the web interface without using files.

Thanks for contributing

I think translations are a great entry point into the 'contributing business'. We have many people on this thread who just recently joined the forum (and maybe the community). I think that's a good sign!

Yes, the whole download a pot file and make a po out of it and upload bit is potentially confusing. Maybe you want to pre-populate languages with empty po files so web editing just works?

That would work of course, but if I create empty po files for languages, which ones do I choose? There might always be someone how wants to translate into a language which I have not pre created. Or I have a po directory with 200 untranslated files - also not the best.

I think transifex should just create a new po file on the fly out of a template that the developer can specify. If the complete maemo community moves to transifex I think (hope) we can make some wishes (aka enhancement requests).
