I could be wrong though <shugs>.
Both of them good thoughts, though. Makes sense to me.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Here's some info about icon cahe removal https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5450#c34

After the update to the new firmware (44-1) the command
Code:
uname -a
still returns "Linux Nokia N900-42-11".

A bug?

I hope this will not cause any further problems (app manager checking current version before doing another firmware update?)

Btw; the date at the end of the version string has changed to "Fri Dec 11 13:33:12".

Thanks for the link. So as suspected it's a hack. It happens to have both postitive and negative side effects, but probably worthwhile overall.

Sure wish everyone could just see the changelog in HAM. Like this bug. Vote.

My App manager is missing the icons - I just have the titles. I tried the obvious reboot - any suggestions?

could it be that the cpu usage is now lower after the update? my cpu widget shows constantly 2% in idle, i think it was 3-4% before. could anyone confirm that? if its true, the device would have more battery live time.

Are you using 3rd party theme? They don't support new icons yet. Official ones from Nokia should have new icon.
