I assume they would just put a batt from a different n900 in and reflash then.

Interesting thing is voda told me they do not have batts online for this. They also stated that the 5899 bat is slightly diff ( So I assume they will not do it that way)

there is no nokia 5899 man. 5800 battery is the same one as N900 bttery. I am using it on my N900 right now. I also got desktop charger for charging two at a time. work great.

as for the guy with a dead battery, don't panic just charge it overnight. leave it plugged in and walk away. then in the morning just take the battery out for 10seconds and put it back and turn it on. done....

I can try that. If I can find a batt for it somewhere. buying a new 5800 batt is a expensive option and care phone warehouse doenent seem to have any online. Id be happier to spend the money on a real n900 batt (as at least voda wont claim I have ruined that phone with it) but they are even harder to find.

Dose anyone in London know where I can get a external charger that fits the batt.

It might be worth me reposted that request as a new thread I am more likely to get a response?

Even if it dose need to be reflashed

To be honest recharging the bat and re-flashing it myself would make me more comfortable about getting the file

All I am doing is repeating the quote from the vodafone support.

Alex: so i wont recommend you to do that online
I am not sure what he thought was different. Prolly just the model number.

And if I had someone local to SE23 in london willing to lend me one or charge my batt with there phone Id be more then happy to do it.

All I am saying is I am uncomfortable buying a batt 20-30 quid that vodafone will prolly use as an excuse if the phone breaks.

But to be honest if I cant find the n900 one I prolly will do that.

Currently i am thinking trying to find somewhere that sells the external charger local is my best bet

I still don't get what the problem is.

just calm down and explain:

why in the hell you need to reflash if your battery has gone dead?

e: nokia 5800: BL-5J 1320 mAh
nokia n900: BL-5J

straight from nokias own pages.
