Actually, there's no need for translated package descriptions to be a maintainer's job. Debian currently does this by providing an extra "Translations-es_ES" (for example) in the repositories with all translated package descriptions. So you could source these translations from whatever source, not necessarily each package control files.

On the other side, I think H-A-M does not support this.

And we would need someone doing those packages.

It looks like things are moving quickly on the transifex front. A lot of stuff we discussed in Barcelona is already reality. Amongst others, Language Teams and Reviews. More details are here: http://ow.ly/11ck1

Also direct commits to SVN over https is no possible. Developers please remember to update the SVN or GIT URLs, of your projects, as they have changed in the recent server move.

I think Launchpad did this partially.
Rosetta (on Launchpad) does this, using a very big string database - it will look in all the products it knows about, which includes GNOME.

Cheers,
Dave.

A problem with this approach are licenses. The system must make sure that they are compatible, otherwise there might be issues. We also discussed this in Barcelona, but decided that it will need some more thought.

As conny mentioned, we have already discussed this in Barcelona and we concluded that it is not a first priority feature to be implemented.

Currently, we support proposals through google API integration in our online translation tool (Lotte).

A glossary implementation is already in our roadmap. If there is a big demand for this feature by maemo translators community, we will increase the priority !

regards,
Andreas

I've submitted a patch a week ago but got no reply. It seems that nobody need this.

I can recommend sending patches through merge requests at http://maemo.gitorious.org/hildon-application-manager

- You're much more likely to have success with that.

The good news is that Moblin is also using Transifex: http://translate.moblin.org/ And there is a L10n coordinator willing to contact the Maemo counterparts and start working together.

See http://lists.meego.com/pipermail/mee...ry/000107.html and join the MeeGo-dev mailing list if you want to discuss this further.
