When you sell your flagship device as the next big thing to take on the Apple and Google, You have to deliver. And honestly, nokia failed to deliver. The meego mashup with Intel is a joke. Intel just wants to promote their moorestown atom platform. They don't give 2sheet about Nokia or open source. Instead of investing on Maemo 6 and taking the platform further, they ended up confusing the customers. Add to that, the next flagship model is a symbian device(N8)..hahaha..Seriously, if I was an executive director at the Nokia shareholders meeting. The CEO would be the first one to get the boot. You can no longer afford such complacency, when you have some really smart and tech savy companies as your competetion. Point-in-case......Microsoft....Apple and Google are way ahead of the curve..LOL
He has a VERY VERY valid point to make here and Nokia has to listen because guess what... probably 75% of N900 owners are thinking exactly the same way as he is !.

They very know that its showdown time for them and to further Meego etc at least the N900 has to shine or no one is going to believe anything Nokia say in the future ha ha.
This is such a lame excuse, that I know no one from Nokia will actually try to say something like that. They could release PR1.2 with QT 4.6 and some obvious bug fixes in February. Then they could release PR1.3 in March with more fixes and features that were tested then. Then PR1.4 in April with more features and more bug fixes. Then in May release PR1.5 which is the "really so good that it is what should have been on the N900 when released". Instead they choose to leave us for months suffering bugs that are "fixed" in bugzilla.

I wish I could do more than just rant about it. I'm dont like to go on about it... But think of a person who has owned only Nokia devices for more than 10 years now. You get excited, wait for your loyal brand to deliver a good smartphone, wearing out the storm of iphones and androids. And what you get is a half-baked device meant for developers. Why didn't u send beta devices for developers only. Who told you to manufacture it !!!
My angst is direct towards Nokia, this community rocks. Heck if it wasn't for maemo.org i would have filed a case against Nokia for selling me a phone which cant dial USSD codes...Lol....Are u kidding me...I know its a tablet and all..But when you sold me this phone, you said it could make calls. So why cant it dial USSD codes...alright, so it will be fixed soon..Endless wait for PR1.2 entails .....Ridiculous. I hope Nokia employees lurk around on Maemo forums. So atleast they know that how to lose customers and alienate the fan base.

Then maybe you need to ask yourself WHY they did not release up to now ANYTHING and no explanation ...but hey you only have to look at the complaints now and i bet Nokia's complaints dept are taking medication for headaches ha ha.

Even the developers are complaining on this very forum because the OS is just not supporting them ! now if no one understands that then maybe they need to go read all of this forum from start to finish.

Having said everything i said though i have to say the N900 for me is one heck of a toy to play with even with the problems of the usb connector and OS.

I'm sorry most of the replies seems to be we don't care, Nokia doesn't care.. Well eventually they will, when they have lost major chunks of their profit margins. Which is already under way, by their declining sales in the US. if it wasn't for India and China, and their strong sales selling mid-range cellphones their, Nokia would have long shut their shop and winded off. Just a small analogy, wouldn't hurt to throw one in *sigh* ... I left my last employer after years of hard work to no avail. When i resigned, i was kind of pissed at the management. But this is what i got a reply from most of my ex-colleagues and some managers. Dude, no one cares, the company moves on, someone new will come, things would be the same, nothing affects the Evil Empire...blah blah... Well guess what, it did affect....Not immediately. But our clients who were used to a very quick resolution of their problems got irked over by the new incompetent support engineers. They couldn't find a good resource and 3 major accounts canceled their support contracts. Millions of dollars of lucrative contract money lost in a period of a quarter.

Moral of the story kids : Just one person or a customer also matters. Apple build their brand around their fan base. I don't subscribe to any views perpetuated by Mr. Jobs and his cronies. But good ole Steve knows how to keep the star trek crowd happy.

Yep i have to agree once again and Nokia was very clever indeed to release to China simply because of the very fact sales were declining everywhere they had already released the N900 and China is the worlds next biggest population so yes a very clever move by management and their sales directives.
Also the reason Nokia had to come up with something new as in the leaked fw because they do NOT want the Chinese market to flag !.
