300 million euro on each of those is, really, nothing to sneeze at.

Okey I know there is also plenty more Symbian phones and non Meego so far but still...
Well, if MeeGo based devices are successful then that'll switch around. As it is, MeeGo is probably cheaper to maintain as a whole than Symbian.

Still, 1800 people working on MeeGo and Qt? That's actually higher than I anticipated myself

300 million eur divided by 1800 people, ~166k eur per year, that's not bad. Sounds like a good business to be in

WTF, they allocate more funds and people to "Symbian User Experience" than just about anything else, including "Hardware Design, Test and Integration".

They're investing 3 times as much money and people to Symbian than to MeeGo/Qt.

Do we have a source of this diagram?

I'd much rather see a diagram of how let's say MeeGo Devices looks, as it's SW+HW together.

Most the Budget went to Nokia Siemans Network (2 billion of it), Nokia are the Only one on the list who build Network Infrastructure.
So once that is subtracted they are Spending hardly any more than anyone else in the departments that they all fund.
BTW MeeGo needs less budget than Symbian b/c they are not the only ones working on it, lot of R&D is done with partners like Intel so cost is shared unlike on Symbian where only they use it.
oh and this was 2010 ppl who are saying they have nothing to show for it are stupid most the projects would be long term investments on future technologies and the like.
b/c Nokia use Qt i guess some Software R&D can be implemented on either of their platforms even if its pencilled in on MeeGo or Symbiam budget

The numbers seem legit but I ignored the analysis, the guy might very well be trolling.

on the second chart do the figures even stack up correctly compared to figures quoted everywhere else?
these are not official figures either the breakdown and cost as been estimated by some one who is most probably wrong. but the US media like to present them as fact as usual for excuse to bash Nokia

wow I can't believe Nokia still putting a lot of money into Symbian and trying to refining something that almost outdated.

On a side-note, I wonder if Atari still funds Atari 2600 development?

[troll] But what the hell amount of money to be churning to fixing up Symbian! Really, it cost Nokia 850 million to make new icons for S60 5th and call it S^3?? [/troll]

I think it's pretty cool seeing those 1,800 ppl working on MeeGo. I think I read somewhere that Maemo5 officially had 25 dudes and an office pet of a stuffed monkey working on it (And it turned out Great! So imagine the potential!).
