It's weird for me as well. I think the problem starts when I upgrade via xterm. After each update, I got duplicate icons ( I notice because my desktop icon didn't work anymore). I got an "unknown icon" error when upgrading through exterm. I think catorize might be duplicating icons that you have on your desktop (but not all my desktop icon got dupped). Another update and I now have three icons for some of my apps (seems to affect only some app like phone, doc, email, etc). I hope the creator of catorise have an answer. I really like this app and would like to keep it. I hope a fix is in the making otherwise I will have to uninstall this app.

Less guessing please.

The duplicate folders in MyDocs is a Maemo bug, unrelated to Catorise: #5838.

Catorise will result in two shortcuts for any application which has X-Maemo-Prestarted=always in their .desktop file. Effectively, this boils down to a lot/most of the apps which are, by default, on the main applications menu (e.g. Phone, Conversations, Email etc.)

If you see any reproducible behaviour whereby Catorise then continues to create additional shortcuts (beyond the additional one it needs because of #8111), please raise a bug:

I just discovered that shortcuts I have already added to the desktop have reappeared in the add shortcut to desktop menu. Has anyone had this "problem"? I would love for this bug to happen two more times so I can have the phone shortcut on each desktop. I now have it on two of the four. But of course I don't know what caused it and don't even know when it happened. Could even have been as long ago as the firmware update and I didn't notice.

Yes I just installed it a couple of days ago. Is there a connection?

Yes, there's a bug in Catorise (well, more of an inevitable side-effect than a bug IIRC) which causes these duplicates to appear. I don't use it myself, so I'm not entirely sure of the situation (check the Catorise threads for details), but ISTR some people mentioning that not all the duplicated shortcuts actually worked.

It's a side-effect of #8328's fix. AFAIK, the one additional shortcut works.
