That's quite possibly the oddest way to show market savvy. Piss off developers and 3rd party tool vendors, entire communities up in arms, grab the attention of the Federal Trade Commission concerning locking out ads that don't come from your recent purchase...

I'd call this a reality check. Apple iPhone 4 hit with an estimated 20% drop in sales due to the antenna problems; people flocking to other frameworks because of either openness or access to IDE's and frameworks that do not require extensive retooling for existing or already passed (by Apple's own App Store) products all because you inexplicably want everybody to use your toys, tools and ads.

Step 1 Piss off everyone and make news.
Step 2 Let simmer for a while, stirring occasionally.
Step 3 Do an about-face and your in the news again, bigger than ever!

I worked for a fellow that followed that marketing model from time to time. He pointed out that you can't buy the front page, you have to make news.

This just leaves the door open for Apple to "invent" flash in a new and exciting way...

I'm sure it will be totally awesome and a game changer too!
