i was referring to ur phone as ur child, treat it like a baby, wipe it, change it, love it, dont let it go swimming by itself. so just how did it end up being immersed for so long?

Do the rice trick, but keep it at least 5-6 days. Do not turn it on. I kept it dissasembled in rice for 48 hours and when I turned it on it had water stains on the screen and I thought it was dirt. But after a week the stains dried of on their own and the screen started to turn of on it's own.

In the sea=salt which is not very good for any electronics no matter what you do. If this was fresh water that would be different but salt/iodine corrodes

No phone that I know off will tolerate Salt water fresh water yes but salt nope, I could be wrong but that phone is good as dead

Isopropanol (rubbing alcohol to noobs) will clean that salt off there and its not electrically conductive which means you can dunk your phone in it all you want to clean it.

Was the phone turned on when it went under? I imagine it would have better chances of surviving if it was not running.

And with the alcohol thing, make sure there is no chance of electricity running anywhere (don't short circuit anything though), otherwise, if the sea didn't kill it, the fire might....

Also, remember that alcoholl often isn't pure, it's dilutted in water.

While you're trying to play Dr, Frankenstein with your pricey paperweight, you probably should consider getting another N900 to use while you don't fix your original one (dunno how long till you finally fix it, if ever)
