I'm not a big fan of Android. I like both Meego/Maemo and Symbian not Android. Money will not be the matter unless there is big price difference between two phones. I don't know if I should go for performance (not much difference on processor performance between two phones, N9 and 701) or go for available apps.

go for symbian (sigh). More polished, more support and more apps.
don't get an N9 unless you are fanatic. Fanatic and super passionate. Its a frustrating experience that will bear moments of awe that can't be found elsewhere.

What is so frustrating about N9 experience? I really want to know. I have never seen N9 and most people seem to be very positive about it in the reviews.

i sudgest 701
great smartphone, much cheaper, great media phone(plays anything unlike n9),overpowered gpu(better performance than sgx543-mp2 in most situations),better support in the time to come, better 3rd party support

and lets face it people n9 neither is nor it will ever be the beast all older maemo devices were and stil are, its just a iphoneish phone...

Hi springwork..first off all you..symbian indeed has more apps but what kind off apps...(are they usefull in YOUR day to day life)..and support ? what kind of support do you expect ?...

updates hell no i have my n900 3 years now and i had more updates in the last 3 years than any other device (thanks to CSSU)..

the fact that Meamo/meego are open devices means that the possibillity's are endless...the n900 is "DEAD" As these IOS/Android lovers say but we have apps that the normal human being can't even imagine..Sooooo

if you want a phone filled with air horns and Fart apps then yes go for the 701 if you want a multimedia Beast...and " 5 usefull apps that match up to 30 b*llsh*t symbian/android apps "then go for the n9.. But he it's just an Opinion.. Good luck...

Using the N9 is like taking the scenic route to work every morning. It's nice for a while, but once the novelty wears off you just want to go back to using the motorway, which doesn't have the nice scenery, but is much more productive. It often takes several swipes and some lengthy scrolling to achieve the same thing that only takes one or two taps (or use of a keyboard shortcut) in Maemo5. Then we come to the bugs, the lack of customisation, the relatively poor multimedia performance and so on.

The N9 is for those that know why they want it (usually Swipe UX and shiny design). I could not recommend it to anyone that is on the fence. It can't replace the N900, nor can it compete with the more established smartphones.

I went for 701. It was an extremely difficult decision though - if not for the replaceable battery on 701 I'd chosen the N9.
