Ugh.

Its funny.. the idea behind all these quarantines and voting things is so that a broken package doesn't get into extras... but yet - if a package breaks after it's in extras there is no procedure to have it removed or an emergency replacement.

We've had a broken package in extras for 2 weeks or so now.

Hey, as a dev I feel your pain, and there have been various suggestions how to improve this, but it takes a while to get through the pipeline.

Well, we've got all the needed votes for both apps now. Just awaiting the countdown for the quarantine now.

Thanks everyone for the support! We're not done yet . I want to make some mods to pyPianobar and then I'll have a new version that I'll push to testing for us to mess with (with the UI enhancements that are currently in Devel).

Pianobar has been promoted (to extras).

That was definitely the most important one; now pandora should work in Extras again.

pyPianobar will be promoted in the next day or two I'm hoping; and then I'll have new versions pushed to Testing as well. I won't keep bumping my thread for votes on those though; I can wait until the Testing squad comes back around for those ones if I have to.

I have a suggestion or a feature request. A button that would save the artist and track to some text list.

Well.. this sort of ties into the history suggestion above.

They wanted the ability to have and save a history of songs.

Definitely something I could look into; maybe instead of a history just a button to "save song" and it'll just append to a sort of history file?

Yup, so I could just copy the text or text file to go download the music from Amazon MP3 later.

History would be more complicated to integrate, and wouldn't help since a user then has to search through the history.

Ok, new pyPianobar (2.1-1) up - few changes, hopefully make some people happy.

* Enable / Disable FM Transmitter menu button
* Attempt #2 at solving the 100% CPU pianobar lockup (re: auth token timeout)
* A somewhat hybrid/screwed/half-asked implementation of the "history"

I'll explain that last bit. Due to the fact I suck at UI design completely, and that I have no button (and no space) for another "save" button for songs.. I have implemented a somewhat .. meh .. method.

Essentially, any song you Love (whether it just comes up in the playlist, or you click the "Thumbs up" button) will get written to ~/.config/pianobar/history.

This file currently gets cleared out every time the app starts up; so if you want information out of it I suggest copying the file before starting pyPianobar next time.

I certainly intend to perfect this history thing; especially since you may want to save off songs you don't want to "Thumbs Up" - but this gets me about half-way there.

Any suggestions on UI design and buttons welcome always. For example: Maybe a button for the FM Tx On/Off as well instead of a menu item? A button for saving songs to a file (at which point I *wouldn't* clear the file automatically..)?

Layout ideas?

Anyway.. this should give some people stuff to play with for a bit. Hope you like it!

Dumb question I'm sure:

I got the over the air update (thanks!) and it seems to work, except I can't hear anything. Headphones in/out doesn't make a difference. I can see the song timers counting down, but no audio comes out. I had a similar problem with a different media player (Songbox I think it was called), and could never get it to work. The crap-tastic media player the N900 ships with will play music through the earphones and FM transmitter just fine.

Any idea what's wrong and how I can fix it?
