Thanks alot guys. Apparently I had more pins on the other side of the tv, and it worked. I just couldnt see the other pins and never had use of them, due to the way my tv is placed. LoL...I feel dumb!

Holy cow huge images. Consider creating smaller ones for posting and add links to the full-size versions!

Sorry, but the embedded post images are half the width of the post (1/4th of the page), and clicking the bar at the top of the image opens a new window for the "full size"...at least for my posts. I'm not sure which forum mode you're using, but that's how it appears on the default (mine).

Does LCD-s or Plasmas upscaler hardware/software has anything todo with picture quality ?
I've seen SD quality stream on a 1080p tv with very pixelated quality but also i have seen SD stream on 1080p tv with very fine quality?
Is there any info about upscaling capabilitys of tv-s ?
I myself have the old "bowlingbowl" 21" tv still

TV internals and software have everything to do with picture quality. Not all sets are created equal. Pioneer plasmas were more expensive, produced a better image, along with handling motion, better than other sets, for a reason.

Is there some API to control the output format? The media player is able to output a real 4:3 aspect ratio on tvout by cropping left and right while keeping the 16:9 aspect on the built-in screen.

This would be nice for most of the emulators since they usually run 4:3 games. These then have black borders left and right on the built-in screen (which is prfectly fine), but get an additional top and bottom black border on tv-out. The latter doesn't make much sense since this results on black borders on all four sides on tv-out. Instead the image could just be fullscreen for 4:3 content on the 4:3 tv-out.

How can software change this? I didn't find anything in the APIs.

I asked this a while ago here... and it's also part of this brainstorm: Changing the aspect ratio of the TV out signal from 15:9 to the aspect ratio of whatever image you're viewing in an image viewer would really improve the user experience.

It seems nobody knows how to do it, though. Google search didn't bring up anything either.

Is there anyway to config the device so that it doesn't think it's connected to 4:3 display?
I hate the black bars on top and bottom, and most projectors dont have any means to change the aspect ratio
