Dude, when US-centric reports are presented to a world wide audience, there is relevance. El Reg should have taken more care to point out how distorted the US market is compared to the vast majority of the world's population who do not reside in the US.

This is a problem with the media in general following US trends and causing the choices of a minority population to influence the majority. We know which OS reaches the most consumers globally, but plenty of idiot bloggers will rehash a report like this around the world, further disseminating dodgy data as being global rather than local.

Last time when I looked:
N900: 5638 68.57%
Galax: 2584 31.43%

now:
N900: 5831 68.62%
Galax: 2666 31.38%

N900 increase: 193
Galax increase: 82

If this would go on, we would rather end with a 70% win than with 62% forecasted by me.

Well, it wasn't me -- I have N900, multitool, knife, flashlight, spare battery, keys, and a rollypoly pouch.

But no spandex pants, please -- I must have pockets big enough to hold other phone, other multitool, 4" crescent wrench, wallet, 3 other knives, and another flashlight or two...

Are you paranoid about the end of the world or something?

He's not paranoid. He's prepared. He has everything he needs to start the world right back up again.

His only worries now are deep bodies of water and very powerful magnets.
