Is it possible to rearrange the applications in the main menu? I dug around for a while, and found /etc/xdg/menus/hildon.menu which allows me to change which applications appear on the first screen, but it doesn't follow the ordering in that file (for example, osso-xterm.desktop is the second one listed but is on the third row).

I found that for some applications, moving its .desktop file out of /usr/share/applications/hildon and moving it back will move it to the end of the list (on the second screen), but this doesn't work for pre-installed apps.

Is it possible to change this order or is it hard-coded?

Seeing this menu was one of the unpleasant surprises on the N900. No re-arranging entries, no (sub-)categories... it's a PITA to use.

I wonder if some usability guru told them it's good this way.... or if they had technical problems implementing it properly and will do so in a future update.

As for now, I'm afraid we'll have to live with it.

I'll second (or third) the request for the ability to do this.
