It seems that something in Faster Application Manager is stopping any commands in xterminal from working and I cannot install, update or uninstall any apps.

Do you need me to enter any commands into xterminal for more info?.

Firstly, and unlikely to work, fapman has its own "apt-get" script called "fapt-get". See if it too stumbles at the same point.

I have never encountered this issue but I would:

1) make a backup of /var/lib/dpkg/status.
2) delete /var/lib/dpkg/status and try again to see what happens.
3) failing that, I would edit /var/lib/dpkg/status deleting the offending fapman entry and retry.
4) if that works, I would reinstall fapman, perhaps trying "apt-get install --reinstall fapman" to reinstate the dpkg database entry

You will need to be root to do these things......

Noooo! this file keeps information about which packages are installed etc. And from your output it looks like your phone has problem with fapman package icon. Do you have leafpad or pygtkeditor or other text editor installed? if yes, open this file as root, e.g.:
Code:
root
leafpad /var/lib/dpkg/status
and find fapman entry. It should look like this: (override it with this text if it' different)

EDIT: quote removed, see attachment instead

And there should be empty lines before and after this whole entry.

If error still occurs, check package which is above fapman in this file.
