Has anyone here wondered what the point of a dev. device is? A dev. device makes only sence if you follow with consumer products afterwards, and I mean not only one. Or is it just a last generous contribution from nokia to the meego project?

A diff model dev device makes sense when they have a pile of ex-consumer devices never going to see the light of day. Might as well put them to use.

So will Nokia sell the developer device in their webshop or will it be for "certified" developers only?

But the WM7 "horse" has a blood lineage tracing back to donkeys such as WM6.5, 6.1, 6.0, 5.1 that was fully neglected for too many years and Microsoft did sweet F all to maintain it (still running on Pocket IE4/6!!).

exactly this is what I wanted to say regarding the consumer device.

He doesn't have a NDA, sorry.
He is a very good analyst, though.

"People want"

What I want is possible to root the damn phone in same easy way as on N900.

But to me it's seems it will only be possible on "developer device" Reson I do this conclusion is because the rumor about two devices. Why release one devdevice and one consumer? Seems more like Nokia want the community to "shutup" by release a "devdevice" and then a closed to the masses who dont care that much about open devices.

Is the devices using same UI? Thats a question? I guess we will not see any answer until release around november 2011...

I bought N900 cause it was more open than Android now I begining to think next one will be more closed than Android.

If this is true its a bigfail

Guys if there are 92K of dev devices made I am sure its a matter of time you eventually will get a hand on one of them...
I myself being a developer prefer the candybar more if done right the VKB can be as nice as the hardware one.
And the best one if the consumer one without KB is a hit not only Elop will have to eat his words... they eventually will release a keyboard one later for sure .

Koajwujwer123 does have the consumer device.

I was told that the consumer device will have the same CPU as their future WP7 devices. Therefore I assume it will have the ST Ericsson one.
