For the price of a broken 770 plus replacement you can buy a n800.

Presumably there's something in the kernel source that will show us how the speed change has been made for the N800.
Ah, it could be hidden away in the bootloader, etc. too.

Early on, i did an experiment where i ran a CPU hog from xterm on battery power only. I've also done the experiment where i read a book using FBReader on battery power. As i recall, the two runs consumed the battery in about the same time. My guess is that WiFi and the screen consume more than the CPU does. In any case, i currently act as if the CPU does not consume power.
