Aand, I've just "released" version 1.1. Sort of. Extras-assistant's not working for me, and I can't get scp to work either - I just get "Permission denied (publickey)."

I've uploaded it on my website though: http://robbiethe1st.afraid.org/Backu..._1.1-1_all.deb

Changes:
1. Added working terminal(though you still have a console after quitting it, so you've got to reboot or pilot the tool mostly blind - any console messages screw things up.
2. Improved menus.
3. added shutdown method.

That being said, I figure I ought to tell you guys: As of this post, I have over 875 verified unique installs of BackupMenu Ver 1.0-rc1! I'm absolutely amazed!

Are you really that surprised? Backup menu is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT programs for the n900. You should be proud of yourself.

Collectively, the entirety of TMO owes you >1000 beers.

Add to this at least same amount for backupmenu-multiboot (outside extras), so i totally agree with >1000 beers

Not going to happen, most likely. I applied for a devkit(N950), but was turned down. Apparently "harmatton already has a backup tool" and I "may not be able to port it due to the new security features". So... Unless someone ends up giving me one, or I get enough donations to buy something outright(I've gotten about $130 total from about 15-20 people so far)... I'm not going to be able to do it.

Speaking of multiboot, I'm going to have to look into just what that guy did: Did he just tie it directly into the Maemo-bootmenu bit, or tie it into Multiboot's setup? I'm going to be removing my dependancy on Bootmenu(and incorporating that functionality into backupmenu), because I'm not getting bm into extras-testing otherwise. This will remove the need for a conflict with multiboot, I think... but I'll have to see.
I'll also need to ask him if he can add my user-count-tracking code/readme to his package.

I would LOVE to see "integration" of both ideas into one backupmenu sitting in repos (backupmenu-multiboot isn't in repos). Of course i never asked, cause You stated that You're not interested in writing compatibility for multiboot, but bless You both, if that ever happen. Another thing less to remember about, in case of reflash.

This is exactly what I feared - the new security features. This might mean that there are parts of the filesystem that cannot be read or rewritten & this thing sucks.
Not that it won't be hacked, most likely soon, judging from what happened to iOS and Android devices. It's only unpleasant corporate taboos at work.

I'm just curious, RobbieThe1st, those quotes you're reporting are from the developers devices program review of your application? That makes me real angry. They're refusing to lend a dev device to the single guy who fixed their awful toy backup system, and saved a huge number of N900s from being thrown out of the nearest window. Or, maybe, it's just for this reason, that BackupMenu defeats planned obsolescence, and this is not good for marketing!

Paraphrased, but yes. The original was more like "...how feasable would it be with the security framework, etc?" along with them finding it "too niche". I'd say more, but I really don't want to poke untoward blame towards the reviewer; he was only doing his job -
It's a matter of 600 applicants and 250 devices, and I understand where they're coming from. Still, yea, I can't say I wasn't slightly upset.

I don't know if that's what you mean but you can get BackupMenu to show up as an item in boot menu, replace the old .item file with one having the following

hi RobbieThe1st,

can u please tell me how to remove the ubsrootfs??
if i do df -h in xterminal i see two kind of rootfs one is ubs and i want to delete that.
can u tell me how??
