Hi all, sorry for my bad English.
I was trying to use pptp VPN (with MPPE) and after following the instruction by creating a new account in pptpsetup (pptpsetup --create tunnelname --server server --username username --password password) i faced to an error [Permission denied] so I decided to reboot my device (using reboot command), but after rebooting, my N900 doesn't react, it shows an error on top (internal error. application "phone" closed.) and i cant use touch screen, i cant access any where.. i tried to connect it to pc suit but since after connecting usb it only charges and doesn't let me choose pc suit mode i cant do so, i tried to flash kernel i did it using
flasher-3.5 -F <firmware-image> --flash-only=kernel -f -R

and also with map2 kernel, but its the same! nothing changed.
the only reason that im not flashing FIASCO or eMMC is that i have about 500 business contact and an important calender, lots of passwords, etc.. and i dont have any new backup.

i know where is the database for contacts, etc.. (home/user/.osso-abook/db and ...) but i dont have ssh enabled in my phone and i cant access it now, if there is a way to access xterminal via pc please kindly let me know, so that i can backup contacts manually.

im really confused, please help me.. its so import for me to save my contacts or maybe i will lose my job!

Thanks all

Do you have the SSH client installed on your N900?
Do you know your IP address of your N900?

If yes to both questions, then why not use WinSCP to connect to your N900 via WIFI. You can then browse to the folder where your contacts live, or if you feel comfortable working in command line, open up PUTTY to your N900 and use command line.

i assume your linux knowledge is good. one of the first things is to be calm... (you knew that)

well... have a read at http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/Using_Rescue_Initrd

Once you understand everything there, see if you can't be helped. Actually, you're better off reading all of the N900 specific stuff on that whole wiki.

From #maemo on Freenode, it seems the Rescue Initrd is very limited... so I'd advise that you try to back up the whole disk on your pc first, before you try to manipulate any data.

Of course, you know the battery can't be charged in this state, so better try and get it charged elsewhere first.

Best wishes
