There is a possibility that I might get an N9 in about 2 weeks from now.
But it will be the 16GB model and not the 64GB. Ah well, early is good. =P

That informercial looks very apple-y.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nokia's management, in desperation said something like "Oh wtf, the market has gone nuts. Let's just do what Apple does, cause that seems to be working in the current market climate."

I mean, just look at the N9: unibody design, UX centric, no hwkb, no removable battery, no flash, no hdmi, flashy marketing, and the list goes on...

iPhone 4 wannabe is the N9 motto

Wow, that is kinda embarrassing...
But no shame in borrowing "some" (there still huge differences, this oddly seems to go unnoticed by some) ideas that work.
To bad it's "looking" unlikely that a commercial apps market will be given much of a running-start to take off.

UX centric?
Flash is still a possibility....
Service manual identified that it certainly is possible to change the battery.
Not recommended for r3t4rds though

Heh Flash 10 is still a possibility for the N900, too. Don't hold your breath though.

UX-centric? I agree that can only be good, so long as we can still tinker to our heart's content (yes yes, Harmattan UI is closed, but we haven't even had a chance to play with it yet).

As for the non-replacable battery, I do find that to be a negative (even though it makes the device smaller and more beautiful), since sometimes it's nice to be able to take two batteries on a long trip away from wall power, and sometimes my N900 has needed a 'battery out' reset before it'll switch on (I've just been too lazy to research why this is - it was originally fixed in PR1.2 (I think 1.2?) but has come back to haunt me.

Sure, you can change the battery, but it's not a 30-second job, needs special tools, may void your warranty (if you screw it up) and you run the risk of breaking bits of the surround (read the service manual to see what I mean).

So yeah, much as my instinct is to defend anything which combines Linux/Nokia, I think "battery not replaceable" is a valid point. I've certainly made fun of my geek friends who [inexplicably, to my mind] tote an iPhone for it having the same issue.

I hope that if there are any moderators left on tmo, they take the time to safeguard the integrity of what was a highly respected site so that the sharing of intelligent comment, information and views can thrive again.
Yes, agreed. I would like to ask you to stop being so arrogant and pretend that you're a perfect citizen while the people with opinions to debate and a differing perspective continue to exercise their freedom of expression.

I'm thankful for and hope that the moderators, who clearly are here and have posted in various threads themselves, continue to safeguard our ability to share our opinions, critiques and ideas despite the closed-mindedness and arrogance portrayed by some. It's one thing to point out that you disagree with someone, it's something altogether different to call for their quelling. If you don't like some of the people who post here.. there is an EXCELLENT "ignore" list you may wish to exercise to put on said digital blinders and live the life of blissful ignorance. ...or you may just wish to participate by disagreeing instead. MAYBE convince someone you way, for once.

I've been saying that all along. It's TRYING... and failing on the PLATFORM front while technically trying to catch-up. So, I agree! Now let's hear from the folks that INSIST it's not an iPhone wannabe! THOSE are the people I like to hear from--you two have become BORING and agreeable.
