As installing/changing/removing packages has system-wide impacts, you need to be the super-user to perform such actions.
Code:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
This requires having package 'rootsh' installed.

thanx bro..

but I do have rootsh installed...

now it says
Code:
unable to open/create status database lockfile: No space left on device
and I managed to access the 'Log" option of the "Applications Manager" after a restart.. it says

Code:
Hildon-application-manager 2.2 52.2
write: Broken pipe
write: Broken pipe
apt-worker exited
apt-worker: can't turncate lock/var/libhildon-application-manager/apt-worker-lock:No space left on device
read: bad file descriptor
apt-worker is not runnig
how can I free disk space in a situation like this?

has anyone faced this situation before?

Is your rootfs free % really 0%?
Code:
du -h
If yes, then http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=649673&postcount=6 applies.

No. The rootfs (partition) is not mounted to the PC when connected via USB. You have to use xterm.

Execute the following to temporarily move the Flash support library to a place that is not using the root partiton; to free up space for apt to work between:

Code:
sudo gainroot
mv /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so /home/user/
Now deinstall some packages that use up rootfs space. Hint: Themes and Icon packs are often responsible. If you are done, issue in xterm again:

Code:
sudo gainroot
mv /home/user/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins/
To get back your Flash support in MicroB.

Hi bro.

A miracle happened to my phone .. lol

couple of mins ago I installed OVI and created a backup to flash my phone since I got tired trying and reading and typing all those terminal commands and stuff...

then to get the Imei I took the battery off and switched ON the phone and opened the Application Manager for the last time... Miraculously I was able to go to the Uninstall menu... lol and now while Im typing this I'm uninstalling some heavy a** themes (each are like 10.5mb's in size) hope this will work

I Thank you for kind consideration to help me bro...
May you get good things in your life in return (Karma) (Karma)
