OK before I blow a gasket I need some help!

I installed maemo-mapper through the GUI application. It ran the first start or setup menu for the mapper the first time I ran it. and it loaded some maps only problem is the default view was some freakin place I never herd of. I tried to install a new map repo google street and now it keeps trying to load maps but fails every time. I did a quick search on the forums. and found some things. Like making sure I'm connected to the internet before I try loading maps which I am and i also tired changing my map path to /media/mmc1/Maps/ I have a 1 gig card there thats is empty so it should be fine. I also tried uninstalling maemo-mapper and deleting the file .maemo-mapper file in my home dir in hopes of getting the first run setup again. but deleting this file uninstalling and re installing maemo-mapper didn't help. I tried looking for the config file for maemo-mapper but couldn't find it. So any help getting this working would be nice.

Who cares for our N770s , no more supported by Nokia.
I have tried to install new MM 2.2
and dependent library packages are missing
libconic0
libgpsmgr(>=0.1)

Pls tell me what makes developers not to include all required dependencies into one in stallable package ?

If the above is to complicated so why not to put some weblinks to
verified sources, provided by third parties ?

Nokia tablet is a nightmare product.
Look at N810 forum.
gps problems, problems, problems.

What makes Nokia and Nokia tablet developers not to follow development pattern adopted by Microsoft ?
Installing downloaded application I can be sure it installs smoothly
and I don't have to look for third party made libraries, drivers contacting many different places.

Developers please save our time and give valid web links to verified dependencies not included into main package.

Look homo don't hi jack my post. Stop winning about the "no support from Nokia". This is not a Nokia forum go wine on their web forum.
Sell your nokia 770 if you don't like it. Microsoft blows. The nokia 770
is for us linux guys that like to tinker. I don't mean to be too hard on you but I noticed this is the second time your posting about this topic and your doing it on my post. Listen what version of OS are you running? second what version of maemo-mapper are you trying to install. I installed from the GUI application installer after adding the needed repo. and all the deps were fine.

I believe maemo mapper also saves some settings in gconf. I found some info on it by searching for "gconftool maemo mapper."
Short answer: gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/maemo/maemo-mapper
link to search: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...earchid=859709
thread with more info: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...l+maemo+mapper

Darius, did you ever visit a MS forum? Or perhaps Apple forums?

They are full of people complaining for one thing or another. There is no perfect system, if you don't like the tablet sell it and move on.

libconic0 and libgpsmgr are present in the same repository from which you got Maemo Mapper (gregale extras). Did you use the .install file?

I thought I did that when I announced the release. If not, it's available on the downloads.maemo.org page. Or, you can use the .install file.

You mean a bloated operating system that includes every possible library that anyone might possible even think about using?

Darius, no disrespect intended, but please save my time by doing a simple Google search.

In addition to the gconf suggestion that Johnx mentioned earlier, you might want to upgrade to the latest version of Maemo Mapper (at least v2.2). Or use the "Go to | Address" functionality to center the view on a location of your choice.

Thank you Johnx I followed the like you posted and after un-installing maemo-mapper and deleting file -

/etc/osso-af-init/gconf-dir/apps/maemo/maemo-mapper/

and finally a reinstall everything is working fine.

I am mostly going to be using maemo-mapper as a local street GPS unit in my service van. I understand there are other maps repos I can upload. understanding that this is my use. what repo's would be the best? I would like to have a complete
street names and places for the Detroit metro Area.

Try the "Download..." button in the "Manage Repositories" dialog, or see the Maemo Mapper Repositories thread for a more complete list of repositories that work in Maemo Mapper.
