Hi, all. Just got an N810.
1. How can I format .avi files to play on the N810?
2. Where can I get PIM software for the N810?
Thank you in advance for your help.

For Q#1, see the wikis on both this site and on maemo.org.
One Quick answer - use a program called media converter to take any AVI and make it the right size and framerate, etc. to run on N810. Its very fast and easy (but there are other programs too).

also, search the forum for "video convert" to find some good links - maybe do an advanced search to look only in newbie or another forum.
enjoy (I only have a 770!)

I think there might not be any great PIM software, but not sure, others can tell what they use. or look around on maemo.org

you can play most avi's(below 1000 kbps) directly using mplayer.

But for best results use nokia media converter.

Is mplayer loaded on the N810, or do I need to install it?
Thanks.

You'll need to install mplayer. It can be found here:

http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2007/mplayer/

It comes with a simple GUI as it's natively a command line program. Last time I tried it (months ago) the GUI was a little flakey as it was just added as a convenience really. Maybe it's better now.

Thank you. I notice that it is under the 2007 heading. Will it still work on the 2008 OS that is on the N810?

It might not. I'm still sitting here with a 770 with 2007 Hacker Edition installed so I can't comment from experience. You can always try, worst that'll happen is you get an error.
