I bet Samsung pressured LF to make this announcement now to kill/slow N9 sales. This is I think a pro html5 anti qt type of direction.

A lot of rumors about Windows Phone 8, like that it will converge with Windows 8 and use NT kernel, finally ditching Windows CE.
IF that is true (something I actually highly doubt), that is a huge change that could cause significant delays.
