if you could grab good cyan backgrounds which will make N900 look like this 
& if you could make N900 core-application looks such as here
would be great ,Rest i ll go with whatever you try to make !! i know you can make good better best themes ))

Robin, remember that the first screenshot is from a Symbian device and not not from N9/N950.

1. Harmattan icons pack -
cloud596 has already created a beautiful icon pack which is the imp. thing in creating a theme . It's available in extras-devel repo !
2. Harmattan Transitions -
TransTech has created Harmattan (N9) Style Transitions.ini file for N900 Maemo5, below are the screenshots of what has been changed (similar to N9)

zifis has created a harmattan style Lockscreen (In Qtlockscreen available in extras-devel repo !) which is very attractive eye-pleasing !
