Yawn Kev another goodbye thread.......only kidding mate.

I understand mate my father (outlaw) in-law has one and its a nice slick device.

BUT......

I am still loyal to my N900, it does all i need it to do and there is still a little bit more room for improvement (not much though)

and vodafone have allowed me to reduce my bill to 15 pounds a month - 600 minutes anytime calls, unlimited texts and 500mb download.

I feel i don't need to upgrade and bump my bill back up to 35 quid a month for a phone which is a little quicker and does the same function.

I too am loyal to my N900 but not because they're nokia branded but because of the way maemo has been made prior to nokia kicking us out of the loop like as if we're almost an unwanted bunch.

I won't be seeing an android device for myself soon until my pre-requisites are fulfilled:
  • I want a proper QWERTY keyboard.
  • I want expandable memory rather than fully depending on internal storage. (This is a big finger pointing to all those manufacturers out there making their device like iPhone, forgetting the fact that android isn't iPhone).
  • I want to be able to dual/multiboot without issues, and see inferno/hellovaphone mature so that I can have proper access to the device's raw hardware rather than dealing with dalvik vm all the time.

My brother I think has SGSII after he asked me which one to choose between: SGSII or HTCEvo3D. I convinced him to get HTCEvo3D and not long ago I see an empty phone box with SGSII label on it. I guess its not a bad choice considering his old phone was X6-16GB but I wouldn't have gone with android devices until there's such a device that meets my requirements above.

For now I'll still remain loyal to nokia ONLY because of maemo/meego. Once nokia no longer makes a proper return is when I'll happily deface my N900, etc.

I would just like to stand up and say I have been Microsoft free for quite a few years now.

I for one would not look to reverse that having experienced the taste of freedom through Linux.

The N900 will pass into the annals of legend as the best and only phone of its kind ever produced.

I cannot see any reason why I would ever need to buy another Nokia phone in the future as long as they have a closed strategy.

Even if my loved N900 died I would buy another N900 in a shot rather than return to the dreaded days of suffering anything with Microsoft and Windows anything.

vodafone have given me the same deal also feel same about bumping the bill back up when there is no need. Sticking with my n900 which is still capable of doing what i want it to do i can"t do with android or the dreaded fruit. there is no device that floats my boat on the market at present.
good luck kev.

Who cares There's no other phone that can replace it for me, so even if my N900 dies physically (and I won't be able to buy a new - perhaps used - one, which is quite unlikely), I already know what kind of phone I need and will seek for N900 continuators, Nokia or not

Even if it means paying premium prices. Who cares

i would change my n900 only for another linux phone, and i mean linux and not crap like android, bada, limo(which everyone says is linux, but i somehow dont't see it when using phones that have it like those samsung/vodafone ones...)

i'll wait for a android 4.0 device with full keyboard and check that out. i'll probably switch to it if it delivers, but for now, my n900 does more than fine.

same here. need an android qwerty, cant be doing with pure touch or i would have the s2 already.

the app and game support on android is massive, reminds me of the old s60 days and
all ive got on my n900 is what i need, no fun apps or games.
