I haven't been able to exhaustively test, but it appears that the network slowdown (order of magnitude 10 or greater) affects wireless but not 3G. After installing the kernel, my 3G connection is now way faster than my wireless. Also it appears that the connection is moderately faster with the bleeding-edge wireless drivers.

Any progress on this issue?

I just got a bfs update and my system seems a lot faster, or my imagination is;

is usage of the whole frequency range (125 - 1150) supposed to be the default behaviour?
as i finally shifted to kernel-bfs and uninstalled kp (48+ramzswap) and got max overclocking on by default (stats/time_in_state made me wonder).
also you'll need kernel-power-settings 0.13 to tune it a bit.

The frequency range may be messed up as bfs8 is using kernel-power49 now, which changed the frequency layout a little. If you have problems you should probably check in the kp49 thread.

As for the slow WiFi I bet it's because of the hw encryption. Anyone know if it can be turned off for the wl12xx?

I don't have any problems I just don't think that it's good to use default range 125MHz - 1.15GHz in kernel w/o kernel-power-settings installed.

ah... I get your point now. You're right isn't the best idea probably.

Damn
I uninstalled kernel-power (within the menu icon)
rebooted into stock.

Then installed bfs... and now it won't turn on
It crashes when I select an item on the boot menu screen
(stock doesnt work, so does the bfs and even NITDroid doesn't work anymore... )

Edit:
I flashed kernel-only and it booted again

Edit: I removed everything, and reinstalled the bfs kernel..
I also installed the boot img, but it doesn't appear on my multiboot list...
Does anybody has the .item file so I can add it manually?

(Or someone please fix the bootimg package )

Hello! I tried installing the BFS Kernel (from extras-devel) on N900. I uninstalled Power Kernel, rebooted and installed BFS Kernel via FAM and the phone won't boot (gets stuck on the NOKIA screen and after a while it shuts down). I had to reflash the nokia kernel to fix the phone. I tried installing 2 times now and same result. Any thoughts on this?

This problem is caused by extra/cpufreq_earlyload.diff patch.
It caused me a lot of grief yesterday.
@iDont: you should disable or remove it from your builds. Many devices are unstable at 1150 Mhz, resulting in reboots and crashes at boot.

Unfortunately not, I haven't had much spare time yet.

The patch is now disabled and a new build has been sent to the autobuilder. I'm sorry for the inconvenience it has caused.
I totally missed this one since I've got kernel-power-settings installed as well.

TTLucian, HtheB, try reinstalling kernel-bfs to see if it works for you guys now.
