'morning guys


I have to ask sorry for my question, i own a N900 since a couple of year, but i never tryed to install a power kernel or something similar

Sorry for my bad english too


Ok, i wanna try to install a power kernel to overclock my N900. Can u guide me step by step? I have all the CSSU updates installed, should I remove it?

As for original question, definitely You can, but be sure to use kernel-power from extras-devel repository (kp49 for now), as one in extras is totally outdated (kp42).

Normally, You should stay away from -devel, if You don't know reasons why You could use it but, this is very specific situation. If You want to stay with extras, the best way is to enable -devel (search wiki for howto), perform apt-get update, install kernel as in Gigabyte's post, and disable -devel, then apt-get update again (to return to extras).

If you cant figure out how to install it ..youre not going to be able to use it correctly.

In this case I do agree, because KP requires command line config to run properly while overclocked, and search is definitely required. But come on, many of us had memory lapses or just stared and missed the obvious.

In my case it took me a good 6 months to figure out that desktop portrait mode IS configurable. For the longest time I kept the N900 locked in landscape because the layout was always messed up in portrait.
