Nokia's note is just inefficiently applied boiler plate. The part that alarms you is the part about 'out of warantee ' charges. Since you say it is brand new, I doubt it is out of warantee.

But returning it to Circuit City for another one or for a refund sounds quickest.

A note on *****s:

The most *****ic comment above was an appeal to the dictionary to decide whether or not certain people deserved the appelation of *****s. Dictionaries rarely solve such issues, since meanings of words evolve quickly and can even evolve during the course of a discussion.

But I would like to introduce a new distinction, between idiot savants and *****ic savants.

As you know, an idiot savant is someone uncannily gifted in certan subjects but idiotic about most things.

The new term, '*****ic savants', refers to people who are gifted in general, but whose approach or attitude on certain subjects is amazingly obtuse.

This latter term might be most precise in the current instance.

Then look at all the duplicates, etc. I realize you think people are being snotty or elitist, but you'd see none of that if there weren't duplicates... and lots of them.

I also completely agree with making people feel welcome... but a lot of the behaviour I've seen on here lately is the equivalent of walking into someone's house without wiping the mud off your feet first. How well d'ya think you'll be received?
Ah, thank you, Hedge. You summed it up perfectly.

Call me a ***** if you wish, geneven, but my only interest at any point was to help people.

Well thank-you for giving me the distinction of being a *****. You win! Here's your 50 cent stuffed animal resembling a Disney character but not authorized by them made in China by slave children... OH! and thanks for playing. (EDIT: I will most certainly send you one for real, free of charge if it makes you feel better. Or are you paranoid I will know where you live, too?)(thought to self: Maybe Geneven now thinks you are a Carny, too... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carny "Mark - A target for swindling, especially one whose gullibility has been demonstrated. Derived from the covert use of chalk to mark the backs of especially ripe targets. The term has entered the popular lexicon, usually as "easy mark." *Information given in case Geneven's mom never saw it in her heart to bring the poor kid out to one*)
But wait, there's more. Well-schooled "wordsmiths" agree with you that meanings of words do change over time. But your logic is fatally flawed as the time line for change is years or decades. I guess you misheard the NPR broadcast about a month ago, or maybe you watched a show on the subject and didn't quite understand that word meanings take time to change and the word "*****" ALWAYS correlates with "stupid" and "******ed."
I was only trying to keep the peace and add some humor and wit to the discussion. It's nice to be given the grandiose title of ***** for defending the intelligence of others with intelligent statements.
Besides, the original "*****" statement was probably not even meant as a put-down so this discussion on who is a ***** is getting closer now to becoming *****ic, or maybe even ironic

Well, thank-you for your correction then I was going to say "obtuse" but M-W adds "stupid" to the definition on their site, and I wasn't about to insult the intelligence of members like the General. He is certainly NOT stupid. You, sir, are unafraid to give him and others here that title among others. By incorrectly identifying or classifying things, or worse- people, you have put yourself in the position of classification as ignorant. Look it up. (EDIT: OH WAIT! You think words can change in a conversation, so to you- maybe Ignorant can mean really smart and witty)
And smartie-pants, WTF is up with the "distinction" between savants? You're stepping way out there on the plank of thought protruding from your boat full of delusions. Boy, I hope you jump off soon.
(EDIT: The water is nice out here. It will wash that chaulk off your back, too)
I sure hope we can be friends. This was fun, we should do it again.

***What flame war?***

Speaking as someone new to both the internet tablet and Linux I have to say I can see why the senior members on this board are getting frustrated.

When i first joined I started the odd unnecessary thread or two, but these days i ensure i do a proper search before posting... so far I have resolved many issues that keep appearing as new threads just by searching such as:

Pairing bluetooth keyboard
Using Gmail through default email client
Installing os2008 and all the software I have wanted

My point (if there is one) is by spening a small amount of time I am now self sufficient on my N800 and I am a linux ******. I get frustrated by people asking lazy questions that are already answered as the only reason they are doing it is because they cant be a*sed to look for themselves.

They are abusing the generosity of those who can help and that generosity wont last forever, hence why i seem to be reading more and more clipped responses from the senior member community.

I for one am thankful for all the work you helpful set of supergeeks do!!

Forum clutter is getting excessive. I'd rather see dupes locked by a moderator (with a note linking the original relevant post, or directing the poster to use search) and eventually deleted than have train wrecks like this one come up when I'm trying to search for helpful info.

Unfortunately, we only have one moderator at the moment, and Reggie has much better things to be doing than watching over our minor squabbles.

I wouldn't be against having a community mod or two to keep the peace (not a job I'm interested in ).

FWIW, I must have been one of the last people to get my 800 from Circuit City. Ordered on the 25th and recieved on the 27th.
I resisted the temptation to play with it before it had finished charging. Took almost 3 hours. I used the time to poke around here and read the manual.
Haven't had a hint of a problem so far <frantically knocking wood>
Added a couple mem cards and have installed FM radio. Probably will get to know it as-is before flashing to 08. Check more feedback on it here.
I'm not in a big hurry.

There's no problem with using the tablet while charging!
