Yes, You should. As for version, if You're not sure, better stay with Stable.

personally i installed CSSU (stable) a few weeks ago and have the impression the performances deteriorated
then again, i didn't bother installing any of the other tweaks (advanced stuff, desktop kernel aso.) but i didn't have that on the PR 1.3.1 neither...

ymmv...
good luck!

Mmm who would say it is more stable than the last official Nokia update.

welcome to the N900 club! You are late to the party but there is still plenty of beer left, although all of the chicks have long gone (except trisha, but she is mental).

For maximum enjoyment:

1. COMPLETE reflash. Rootfs AND eMMC. Read the wiki page, it looks hard but it is actually piss easy.

This ensures you are starting from a fresh N900 with no hereditary problems from the previous owner.

2. Enable extras and testing repositorys. Again read the wiki, it is easy.

3. Install power kernel.

This allows overclocking + mega battery life and gives your N900 super powers.

4. Install CSSU, consider it PR1.4.

This cool stuff like recording/watching 720p video.

5. Install backup menu and work out how to use it.

6. ?????????

7. Profit!

People here will fall over themeselves to help you, write scripts and stuff. We are the nerdiest of the geeks, we make android nerds look like chavs. All you have to do is show that you have searched/tried to resolve your own problems first.

Woe'betide not trying though less you want pimp slapped up side the ego by Jedi (who is a thouroughy nice bloke, just clearly agitated by blatant noobery).

Do we have to install power kernel first or can it be done after cssu install.

I'd suggest you also consider installing CSSU-testing (It really is stable) , Power Kernel v50 (newest one) and overclock your n900 to 900mhz/1000mhz (search jakiman's guide)
