The OS2008 version of squishee is back up if anyone wants to try (v0.1.0-4). You will need a working python2.5 installation and the p7zip-7za package (also at the squishee project page) for squishee to work correctly.

Cripes: tried it and it works! Great work.

As you mentioned previously it doesn't yet support rar decompression. Is that on the horizon/possible with squishee?

rar support for squishee is coming (I didn't add it because the 7z command in the p7zip package for OS2007 is broken -- p7zip-7z package for OS2008 should extract rar from the command line -- have you tested?).

The next version (0.2) will poll the system for known archive extraction tools (tar, zip/unzip, unrar, 7z etc) and will offer a tree view of the archive contents. I'll probably save archive creation and selective extraction for v0.3

If you want rar support in squishee now, make sure you install p7zip-7z then, as root, either
1. hack the squishee.py script in /usr/bin and change the command invocation string from "7za x ..." to "7z x ..."
2. create a symlink from 7z to 7za: ln -s /usr/bin/7z /usr/bin/7za (make sure you don't have p7zip-7za installed)

new version of squishee uploaded (v0.1.0-5). should work for both OS2007 and OS2008

http://garage.maemo.org/projects/squishee

Only one major change: squishee will attempt to use any one of /usr/bin/7z, /usr/bin/7za, /usr/bin/7zr (in that priority) for archive extraction. (Previously squishee used only the 7za command)

I'd appreciate it if someone with OS2008 could test to make sure it works on their device (I borked my OS2008 SDK installation) and let me know if you can successfully extract rar archives.

OS2007 users, you can also download my packages of p7zip from the squishee project page (you should only need one package)

Works on os2008 but will not decompress the two rar files I tried. both gave me error 512. The log says 'can't load ./7z.dll' (./7z.so: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory)

Cripes: I reinstalled p7zip and now it works correctly.

Thank you very much for your work. You've created a very usable and practical app
