As far as I'm aware, speed is actually a bus issue, not a reception issue.
im using dd wrt on my linksys like xxM5xx. it connects quickly and browsing is plenty fast, but when it can't get more than 75% signal from right beside the router i thought something was wrong.
could the n800 have reception so good my router can't provide it 100% signal? lol
