That can definetely be done with NSU - I did it myself (because of the inability to do it over WIFI).
I'm clueless what might be the cause in your case, probably @chemist has any advise for you.

This problem is very common with my N9 as well. Almost every single update fails. Now I'm losing a battle in updating to Firefox 13.0. After trying ~10 times I also tried to apt-get upgrade but it too failed. Then I deleted Firefox altogether, rebooted my phone, and tried to install 13.0 from the store, but no cigar. Fail Fail Fail. This stuff worked just fine with my age old N800. Why can't it work with the N9?

you can always download the deb from the web site by appeding /download to url, and then install the deb manually by hand using pkgmgr install-file. From commandline you will also see the reasons for failure.

Well, turns out it's not just FF 13.0. I can't install anything from the store at the moment. Somebody should lose their job at Nokia. How difficult can it be to maintain a god damn repository

I'm struggling with this problem too. I don't know how it is even possible to fcuk things up like that. I definetly would be fired myself if I messed so badly here in the office (software company).
