That'll be the light sensor next to the proximity sensor. Don't think anything can be done about it, yes it's annoying.

can you please help,i am using shortcutd by the long time and just now due to some reasion i reflashed my set nokia n900 but now i am unable to use shortcutd properly and when i open camera its not showing all all function like timer and other tools to opearting camera. you also suggest that the camkeyd is software or i its included this function with shortcutd. please reply

I am not sure what you mean.

Camkeyd is old. It is replaced by shortcutd. If you have shortcutd installed, do not install camkeyd.

Also it sounds like you have changed from CSSU camera-ui to Nokia camera-ui. That would explain the loss of camera features.
