I've got OS2008 running on my N800. Downloaded Gizmo Project today and set up an account. When I try to make a call I can hear the phone on the other end ringing and ringing and ringing. It never connects. (Or perhaps the phone call is not really even made - but I hear a ringing noise.)

This even happens when I click on "record Custom Voicemail" and then click on the blue sip:611_record.... number in the right hand window.

Gizmo Project seems to be set up properly. It starts up fine and shows that I've got a $0.10 credit in the bottom right hand corner.

Any ideas?

Same issue here. Have not made any calls, but cannot setup voicemail either custom recording or selecting one of the 'canned' ones available.

Sorry to hear you are having the problem, but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I sent in a help ticket at Gizmo Project about this - I'll post anything I hear.

I also found another person with the same problem. He had updated to OS2008 when it came out, installed Gizmo Project, and it was working great. Suddenly last week he had the same problem I described. Very strange!

BTW, Skype is working fine on my N800 - but, I'd rather use Gizmo Project.

I have been through it all. What make and model (and version) of Network Address Translator are you using? Also do a search on this topic on this website. This subject has been covered in some detail already.

Searching indicates Network Address Translator is a router setting. I thought my problem might be with the wireless router settings - so I fired up my notebook computer and installed Gizmo Project on it. It works fine on the Notebook using the same wireless signal. I've also tried using several other wireless sources (local library, neighbor, etc) and get the same result every time. Everything (including Skype) on the N800 works fine - except Gizmo Project.

Can anyone out there with a N800 and OS2008 use Gizmo Project today? I know it worked last week - but it doesn't seem to now.

Well, I finally got Gizmo Project working on my N800. The solution was to NOT use the Gizmo Project Client that I downloaded - instead I configured the N800's built in phone. You'll need your Gizmo Project phone number (Start Gizmo Project and click on settings - it is grayed out) and Gizmo Project Password to do this.

Click on Settings
Click on Control Panel
Click on Accounts
Click New
Click Next
For Service: Select SIP
Click Next
User Name is your Gizmo Phone Number (ie 1747*******)
@ is: proxy01.sipphone.com
Password is: your Gizmo Project password
Click Advanced
In the Connection tab -> Outgoing proxy is: proxy01.siphphone.com
Port is: 5060
In the STUN tab -> Uncheck Auto-detect Stun
Stun Server is: stun01.sipphone.com
Stun Port is: 3478
Click OK
Click Next
Account Name: leave blank
Click Next
Click Finished

Now when you want to make a call using Gizmo Project you just click on the contacts icon (below the globe on the home page) and click on "new internet call".

Internet call will load up and be idle. You can make a call by clicking on the numeric keypad on the left and filling in the number you want to call. Of course you are using Gizmo Project so they'll charge you their normal rates. You can also use Grand Central Mobile at www.grandcentral.com/mobile and make your calls for free.
