Why is VAs dsp better ?

A lot of improvements could have been done but you know what happened
what dsp you get in the soc depends on what gpu is in the soc, so by nokia choosing a shitty gpu for 2011. you also get a shitty dsp
vias dsp is better as it obviously has a better architecture as it plays any 720p video withouth a problem on a much lower freq and probably with needing much less juice
and consider that vias soc is low end and cheap

what would you gain with that? n9 and n900 mostly play the same videos, a sad fact since n9 is 3 years newer device

alternatively, someone could port tcpmp since it is open source and i think that **** plays any video smoothly on any hardware

It's software issue , nothing to do with hardware.

There's always a software part. A poorly written piece of software can bring the most powerful hardware to its knees.

Not that N9 is the most powerful hardware

nokia n9 dsp cant handle 1080p and that is that, pure hardware issue
you can play it over cpu but that will be either really slow, or the player needs heavy optimisations(read:image degradations and frame dropping) like tcpmp does on symbian and windows mobile devices

i really dont know why are some people making this kind of claims when it is clear that they dont really know what they are talking about

yes, naturally there is a software part, but no software can make hardware limitations disapear
