sorry, just came home from work.
I just did this apt-get update command again and - hurra - everything is working fine. Apps are back which previously didnt work and FINALLY I can install/uninstall again..
You sir, are my personal hero for today, thanks a lot

What you need to do as root is:
mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/
touch /var/lib/apt/lists/lock
