My oldest N900 needed a reflash again recently, and it too had this error (the N900 in question stopped being my only/primary device precisely because of the telephony-functions-disabled error) - anyway, I had this error too (that, or alternatively, on a few attempts I got other more obscure CMT related errors), and after a bunch of attempts to reflash it that way, I gave up, and then next thing I know a few minutes later it booted up again, working fine. Perhaps it's possible that you don't actually need the CMT flashing part to succeed, and the rest of the flash already gets done before the flasher fails due to CMT error(s)?

*Shrug* Worth some more testing.

I rebooted numerous times after the flashing apparently failed and I was greeted with a very strange looking (missing fonts I presume), and completely unusable, display.

From what I've read many vital steps come during and after the CMT flashing phase (such as setting up the filesystem).

It's strange how this error effects those with the 'telephony functions disabled error' (including mine), even more strange as why pushing the battery in hard eventually fixed the issue.

Hi,

I had the same issue and when pushing battery, like said above, the flashing passed.

I guess the issue is related to the one described in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66870&page=19.

To test, I put some paper under the phone's body and the sheild protecting those chips.

I've tried to reflash my device and it went smoothly. When booting the phone I have no more the message "All telephony functions are disabled. bla bla bla...", just something like "Unable to connect. Contact service".

I guess the hardware problem could be fixed by resoldering those chips or putting some more presure on them.

I'll test and keep you updated.

Yeah! Paper between the battery and the body can work technically but i got a permanent solution! u Just need a pen with a spring and a glue! after a long time my n900 is on its legs again !! JUST HAVE A LOOK AT http://www.jabawok.net/?p=14 ... and try it,,, It WORKED for me!

WOW! very nice!

I had the "Al telephony functions"-problem. So I opened my phone (not the 1st time) lifted up the contact-pins to the GSM anthena, but problem persisted...Then re-flashed, but had the CMT failure...I did the "pressure-your phone while ereasing and programming CMT" and the flashing process worked! So, I took your advide and did the following:

. It was a bit scary to take out the aluminium shield for the 1st time!! But now my N900 doesn't lose the THelephony functions so I'm really satisfied

my phone won't finish flashing, i think at the end after kennel or something it says CMT flashing failed or flashing failed can't really see because it closes the cmd soon after, please help me... please

WOWW, Excellent, I repaired it with just one piece of Lentil size of sponge on the back of its battery!!
Now, When i dial *#06# i can read right my IMEI, (Yesterday my IMEI was blank)
BUT still i have not any antenna!
How can i do?

Sorry For Sooo Late Rply!!

If You Still could not figure it out..here is the solution!!

First Try Some Basic Resolutions Before Going For Anything Complicated!!

1) Keep a Piece of paper(or another unused sim) just above your sim slot(obviously with a sim in it) and then try flashing again..

Didn't Work? Ok!
