Recently my N900 is behaving strange;

Long pressing the icons used to doesn't show the cross at top provide a way to remove or move the widget on desktop.

Also when i click somewhere on desktop, the setting icon show up but i am not able to click it...

what is happening??

on xterm paste this code

gconftool-2 -s /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/menu_edit_disabled -t bool false
to unlock the menu ;-)

I checked by config reader... the setting is already present

/apps/osso/hildon-desktop/
menu_edit_disabled = false

open x terminal and type ''killall hildon-desktop'' if it dint solve then open x terminal type sudo gainroot then apt-get install --reinstall hildon-home hildon-desktop

It says
Reinstallation of hildon-home and hildon-desktop is not possible, it can not be downloaded.

-First open HAM and enable Maemo Extras and Extras-Devel repositories.
-open xterm and:

sudo gainroot
apt-get update

and then like seanmcken said

apt-get install --reinstall hildon-home hildon-desktop

first check out whether u added those repositories. if no then add it manually for that u can google it.
