mediautils are another option for high-quality on-the-fly transcoding. Or you could set yourself up some sort of UPnP server for the pre-transcoded stuff.

Like Orb, TVersity is also UPnP, but with very good on-the-fly transcoding capabilities.

I'm really awaiting Canola getting back its UPnP server capabilities which it lost in the v1 to v2 upgrade, so I can get back to using easy & pretty network playback.

I don't think they will catch up before the life of the N810, and N800 for that matter, is over. This is one reason why the N800 is actually better. Even if Micro/Mini SD manages to catch up to full sized SD, you will be paying double for the smaller form factor, in addition to the double you already paid for the N810.

I wanted to get a N810 for the keyboard, but I figured it wasn't worth it. I don't need the GPS, don't care about the 2GB internal memory, and have heard mixed reviews about the transflective screen/ambient light sensor.

I like using my N800 to play movies and music, and like carrying a large collection around with me. Add in the ability to download torrents with Transmission and you can download extra content on the fly, making the N800 the best PMP in my book.

I really do want a keyboard though. I wish I could just buy a N800 with a keyboard. That would be the best of both worlds.

I should admit after hacking on the 810 I got an 800 (from Tiger Direct on sale for $229). But I would note that with a powered hub, iPods work. I haven't tried porting GTKPod yet - the only difference is the movies are in the form of Fnn/XYZW.mxx files, thus hard to find without an indexing program.

(And I've actually gotten my hfs+ iPod to mount, but it required hfsplus.ko, losetup, and a program I wrote to scan mac partitions after getting tired of my calculator and hexdumps - How can I get Nokia to turn on Mac partition support - they may not be common, but aren't that rare either, takes little memory, and can't be written as a kernel module).

I have a 16gb micro but, like someone else said earlier in this post, now the full size sd is already at 32gb. And yes, I envy those devices who support them... a little envy but, still.

I lost my miniSD card adapter for almost a week before I found it. If it was the microSD inside the adapter, it would have gone poof.

Anyway, there is a SD adapter being sold on these very forums. Craves1 is a cool guy.

Yes and no. The N810 only supports MiniSD or MicroSD (with adapter). Right now it should be hard finding MicroSD with more than 16 GB. But in theory if you'd put a 32 GB MicroSD into your N810, it should work.

Thanks for bumping this old thread...

What to do!?!?!? My N810 has a measly 10GB max by comparison, but it's really 6GB because I don't want to permanently have the mini-micro adapter in the slot.

Oh, what am I to do!??!?!
In order to have enough room, you'll probably have to find shows that combine themes and genres, such as shows about young guys from New York going to California to make Star Wars porn.
