yes it can.
be carefull.
i repeat - i only flashed the device.
i didn't tested it with charger.
pin out may have a direct jumper circut (not via chrging chip or registor).
but you can flash for sure.

Thanks for the info, right now i dont need to flash but might be helpfull in the future.

So I guess my question now is is there any way to have a fully functional device when the traces are gone? i am sending the device to a tech to check if the traces can be put on back again but in case of that failing is there any other way like creating wire bridges or something like that?

After using N900 for 2yrs and 8 months, i too have this problem, the charger port came out. Haven't got time to go to Nokia repair shop yet. But for the time being, have got a butterfly charger (battery charger) and also ordered a spare N900 battery. Am charging my battery using the battery charger as a temporary fix

My Nokia USB micro port snapped off as well. I bought an battery charger and have 2 batteries but it is a big pain.

However the biggest problem is i can not access my content via PC Suite using USB and I have to do it using bluetooth which is much slower. Now bluetooth is not even being recognized.

I bought the phone 3 year ago. Is this a common repair problem that Nokia repair shops would know of to fix? Not sure what my best option is. Has anyone here been successful in fixing this problem?

OMG, can't you at least use wifi?

Yes common, No. Nokia shops never fixed it. A local phone repairer might be better. Or buy a used one.

Dammit. I dropped one of my two n900 telephones on the floor while charger was in it. Now the USB port does not function!

It doesn't charge but sometimes it reacts to charger being put in before it "short circuit"?? Or something like that.

Got some tools to fix it, hopefully it can be done. My spare N900 is for experiment and N900 warranty.

There really is no other phone/tablet. N9 was disappointing.
