I have the same issue ( and i bought a used one but in perfect condition for 100$ wich is less than repair cost ) and I tried the fixed malf but no device is being detected .( tried on ubuntu and win 7 )

yes battery was dead in the beggining but I used flasher to recharge and flash it to pr 1.3 ( it was pr 1.2 ) . Now it's around 50% . From wiki the steps are done succesfully but no mass storage is detected .

Usually, if I plug the phone to an ubuntu pc, the phone asked wether to use as mass storage or something like that. But now I can not confirm that as the touch screen is not working.
I'd be very happy for any useful suggestion.
