Not being well versed on the specs I thought that USTK(3g) also was reverse compatible with STK(2g).

Hi

I definitely buy it. I hope it would be possible to have 1Gb RAM.

My 2 cents:

1. Have you considered a kickstarter project? It could probably attract more people via ads and stuff.
2. Have you considered making it hardware-hackable like raspberry pi? By adding and documenting few gpio/spi/i2c ports inside the phone (like debug pads under battery of N900) it may attract even more audience. (oops, you already consider it, thanks!)

I elaborated on it in this thread and on #maemo. We can't source the PoP OneNAND (or even plain RAM) chip with >512MB RAM. If you know of *any* source - from your granny at TI labs, to some opium smoking chinese electronics surplus dealer - please holler! I'm hoping to get a very viable alternative with RAM on MMC interface, which should be magnitudes faster particularly on writes, than the lame flash-storage used for swap on N900.

I just stumbled across this discussion,
something I had previously considered months ago as
a sort of dream-fantasy wishful-thinking sort of thing,

I just bought a whole tablet from hiton in china
and my take is they could actually do this sort of thing
as a complete badged project for a price that would
not put it out of reach.

They seem to be making phablets and my experience
this week is the hardware they use is linux-friendly.

Actually I also happened to know a Chinese smoke-smoking designer specialized in ARM develpment boards.Their international website is http://www.friendlyarm.net/ but it seems they focus on Samsung boards only. There are also ppl focus on DM3530 but they don't have International website.
