we have apple airport extreme at work, and N800 works with it. However, the airport extreme is not robust, we're always having to reset it.

Yea, the airport base stations haven't really been that good since they went away from the flying saucer shape.

Now with the new Draft N 2.0 (link) are there any more votes for the bestest router?

For a cheap Draft N that works fine, I have the D-Link DIR615. Should be able to find it for about $50. One caution, however, avoid hardware version 1 of this model. It is a piece of crap. Look for hardware version B2. The hardware version is on the UPC label on the outside of the box. The two routers are different enough, they should have different model numbers IMO Also, it appears, from D-Link's site, they have discontinued support of hardware version 1 in their F/W updates.

I went for the cheap draft N model because I am reluctant to spend much on draft N with the final standard due this July. Had to have a new router because my Linksys WRT54G died, and the DLink draft N was only $10 more than the cheapest name brand G router I could find.

Buying this router online is NOT recommended, unless the vendor specifies the hardware version you will receive.

Hi all. Just bought my N800 about a week ago. I love it except for one little issue. Wireless connections. At work on a Linksys WRT54G it connects okay. Internet works 90% of the time. At home I have a Linksys WRT54GS and while it connects to the router no problem the internet never goes anywhere. It keeps saying it is connecting but the page never gets displayed. Sometimes if I turn the wireless on the N800 off and on a couple of times the internet will start working. Then it may quit after 6 or 7 pages. Thoughts?

If you get either of them, make sure you load DD-WRT or something similar, as the stock firmwares on both of them pretty much suck. Just make sure to get the WRT54GL if you go with Linksys.
I had never tried the DD-WRT, so I re-flashed to that and found that the N800 worked very well, but my two Mac's would take about 5 minutes to reconnect to the internet after coming out of sleep, so I went back to Hyper-WRT 2.1b1 on my WRT54G. All is well again. I really liked the interface better on the DD-WRT though.

I have wrt54g and find that, although it is very reliable, the range is poor. I have trouble in the next room on occasion!

If you re flash your WRT54G router to either HyperWRT or WRT-DD firmware, you can set the power output level higher, although I think you must have something else wrong because even before re flashing mine I had pretty decent range. Once I had a neighbor call me because his access point could not be picked up very far away. After checking things out I found that he had not installed the antennas properly, (he didn't realize you had to keep twisting them till they stop). After tightening them up, I could pick up his network in my house. You might check them.
