not sure we are looking for sales pitch (then again: how to help company x? find a sales.pitch that will garner interest, yeah, in a way we are)

How many people are using Mer right now on their phones, even though its free ??
A handful I suppose, and its not easy to setup either - is it

Without a meaningful UI the underlying layer, no matter how good/free is irrelevant.

You asked for ideas - this is one

Yes we are. But to get there we need the community and the community needs and believe in the idea of the product and the idea must constantly be told by jolla to get it growing and make it more exiting for each statement from jolla.

If I would be jolla I would push much harder for the idea of seamless navigation and user control. The need to solve a real problem or and imaginary with the idea. And community would be an excellent ally if jolla was pointing in the right direction. Even cooler if the community would be a part of Jphone ll planning, launch and commercials to sell the idea of what ever jolla trying to do.

Oh pls don't get me wrong, while totally thankful for the idea nemo glacier ui is totally working on jolla and every port, so jolla as a product doesn't really hold as fremantle did. Fremantle was unique, with mer core nemo clones can happen as fast as android visual layers, so just unsure if that leaves jolla any business perspective

To continue,

If 10% of android users (total count @ 1 billion as per google), decide to pay $10 (just a random amount) to use a sailfish port for their device ..... we can all do the math

And we dont need bleeding edge hardware either.

Thanks but i find those percentage calculations unrealistic. India for example has similar to china billions, but 0.0001% heard of jolla there, so getting even half a percentbis going to be a huuuge battle
edit: not to mention that 10$ would have to cover alien dalvik as well, as mo androod user outside of hackers/wayland enthusiastbis gonna drop their bejeweled or whatever the craze is (we have mitakuullu, what is the sms app on india/china? do we have native? doubt it)

dont worry, no misunderstandings

but your above statement assumes Jolla hardware. I'm saying screw Jolla hardware and use mass market hardware to sell your USP - which is the OS, not the hardware

People are always looking for a good alternative, but they wont switch unless you made it easy to switch - hence the need for an official port which works (with ACL, if possible)

won't manufacturers drop 10$ for saolfish if they have free open source glacier? alien dalvik seems the only selling point
