they wouldn't be allowing the mass extinction that is occurring.
right now. They would stop it. They would stop it with kindness in generosity with immediate technology to save not "just" the human species but all of the species which are threatened by our presence now on this planet.
Or they would stop us in antipathy with immediate annihilation of 99% of our species to halt the eco-disruption we have done.
(I'm not saying I got a hate-on for our species...hell ...Darwinian / Nietzsche-ian planetary evolution here has always been "survival of the fittest" ..for a brief "blip" of time we are/ were fit...so frankly as beautiful as this planet is/ was it has always tried to kill us off...along with every other species that is...so those are the rules...)

I think I can tie this all together. Dave999's guess is correct. The Aliens are already here in the form of smart appliances. Their brain is actually a quantum computer that is kept in the freezer compartment because they only work well at low temperatures. Google is in cohoots with them, Indeed google's name is based on the number googol which equals number 10^{100} - typical of the number of qubit operations that simultaneously take place with quantum computers. The description Google eyes is no coincidence either.
