The difference being that Russia isn't part of the 5 Eyes, so if you live in the US/UK/AUS/CAN/NZ you're probably better off owning a russian phone, because then at least you aren't being spied upon by your own government (who have to most power to make your life a misery)

Russian Governments influence over my life? not so much.

90% chance their backdoor gets broken down and used by other parties immediately, with even less oversight.
