Why not just place a call to your company's IT department and ask them to include the MAC address of your n800 in their router configuration(s)?

It's possible to change the MAC address on the N800, but the networking won't work afterwards - lots of people have tried this. We don't know the reason yet. Try the search function if you want to read the old threads.

I'm using my laptop as a gateway. As it has ethernet and wireless, the n800 connects to the laptop through wireless. On the laptop I defined a forwarding rule.

I have a strange problem with my N800. I have been ''tapping into"" my brother's connection while on vacation and it seems that I can web surf. I can access youtube , but I can't sign on to any web-based-email. I can use pidgin, but I can't access paypal's website. My brother says he doesn't have any web-nanny programs running. So, what's up? How can I change this?

It works for me, on my n800, running OS2008 and the accesspoint logs confirm that it is using the new MAC address. But you need to use macchanger, not ifconfig.
