Not to mention the half-baked features and the clunky ux.
This just gives me more reason to buy a Macbook Air 13 and rely on the now much improved OSX.
Of course, once I put all my affairs in order and save up money. I also need to buy a new phone, as I've had to get rid of my beloved Note 3. Also need a new car. That greedy girl took me for everything I had fml.

iTunes alone is a huge UX inconsistency by itself. There's more in: Pages, Safari, Photos, Numbers, Finder and other Apple developed apps. Yosemite and the beta for El Capitan are also riddled with UX inconsistencies. A quick search for UX woes for Apple products will yield enough research for days to come.
And the new underpowered Mac Book Air is another issue. When it used the i3/i5/i7 they were decent - like the one you're talking about. The new USB C enabled versions use the Core-M which is still quite a few steps from my MBP Retina with a Core i7.
But if they fit your uses, go for it.

Updates are always risky. Just read around this forum to see how many users' Jollas have been bricked by OS updates. My old laptop has been bricked by an Ubuntu update at leat twice. Luckily it was relatively easy to unbrick, once I spent a few hours STFWing. I can only assume that something similar would be doable on Windows.
Making an update mandatory and automatic sounds scary but in reality, it changes very little. I would be much more worried if they forced me to use the Metro UI with no recourse to a real desktop.

I think if you want stuff you shouldn't have...
ie: saaayyyy an illegitimate copy of windoze or-the-like...
you most certainly won't get away with it ...that's for sure.
Not that I would ever do anything like that personally ...or condone such behaviours...
All that being said...
give it a year and someone will figure out some work-around to bypass such securities..

So... if they don't push out video drivers as mandatory; problem solved.
Hardware drivers being made mandatory in as wide-ranging of an assortment of hardware as most Windows machines tend to have; not a good thing.
I dunno. If they do this wisely it could be good. Just make the security updates mandatory, leave hardware alone. Maybe you won't kill computers.
