So you cannot install the case like this:

14:37:14 <veskuh_> #info Internally in RnD we mostly worry about practical issues. How to ensure the quality of contributions, both in terms of code and user experience.
14:37:27 <veskuh_> #info How to have proper guidelines and process in place, how to keep release schedules and have proper platform development kits for community.
14:37:49 <veskuh_> #info How to do customer specific features, and new devices in open setup without leaking information that is not yet public.
14:38:08 <veskuh_> other than that engineers like OSS and would like to see more of it
14:38:33 <veskuh_> business side is more complex
...
14:39:05 <veskuh_> #info On the business side, the issues are mainly related to discussions with potential investors, licensees, and partners.
...
14:39:49 <veskuh_> #info Some investors and partners understand how open source is beneficial to the company, but some potential licensees or investors would see open source as something that cannot be monetized
14:40:24 <veskuh_> yes, both what is value of company and if license to partners what is the value
14:41:07 <tortoisedoc> I wonder how does Red hat for example approach such problem; and would it be possible to replicate?
14:41:54 <veskuh_> tortoisedoc: I think they mostly get money from consulting, and in long term that would be potential alternative
14:41:57 <andybranson> redhat sell support, don't they?
14:42:15 <veskuh_> tortoisedoc: however, in short term we need investment or good customer
not much info, but i got confused with this "in short term" and "good customer"

I do understand current situation in Jolla and I'm aware that there are a lot of R&D their who support and prefer FOSS (maybe thus some of them left at some point). But I do not understand how it is different from situation 3 years back when they just started and how those 3 years are short term, especially if we are talking mobile OS.
In current development and business terms 3 years is not a long time but for sure it's not a short term. So basically they had enough time and saying short time just after disaster and when they face problems is not entirely true.
Even in current situation, they do twist things to present them in brighter way and give hope instead of just telling what it is, which in my opinion got them where they are.
They can't feed users with certain hopes and ask for contribution(preorders, campaigns) and on other hand behind scenes to feed contrary perspectives to investors/manufactures.

And they had announced few times partners and had a huge support on all campaigns from us(users) and still they search for "good customer" ?

Yes, the new version of the Lastu case orients the tablet in landscape mode with the headphone jack up. The original version of the Lastu case oriented the tablet in landscape with the headphone jack down:

Of course, you could just insert the tablet into the case in the opposite direction (so that the tablet is upside down in portrait orientation). Speakers would be covered up, and might be hard to reach the power switch (depending on what gets covered up), but it might work...

EDIT: Well, shoot. I took another look at Lastu's current catalog, and they've still got the headphone jack pointing down. So now I have no clue how these covers are being manufactured...

In any case, it might be best to invest in a good pair of bluetooth speakers instead. According to the latest rumors, headphone jacks are going out of style...

I alreay tried to turn the Lastu case upside down. If i do so i can stand the Lastu case and the headphone is then on top - BUT - then the camera and the loudspeakers are covered. I dont know if i need them but still it is a major srew up in my eyes.

what I understand:
inside Jolla, most would like to open source more but the board has not decided it yet because it seems that new investors/(industry)customers may be reluctant to come if too opened. Probably that is what some of interested parties told them. At the end, I guess it all depends on if someone join the party (and invest in Jolla) and who it is.
Short-term vs long-term is probably because if they cannot get it in the short-term, they hope to get in the longer term (even if that is not that clear how it could be easier in the longer term).

There are probably on-going discussions with other parties and we will not hear anything till they have not finished to discuss. I am quite sure that being more opened is not the main point of the discussion though

Hey, been thinking about how folks seem to keep pointing to Red Hat as an example of an open-source operating systems company that is doing a fine job of making money. So, I've finally figured out how to permanently fix Jolla's troubles:

Red Hat should go ahead and purchase Jolla. Right now.

This way, Jolla is rescued, and Red Hat gains a significant foothold into the mobile OS market. Might be a big win for everybody involved...

They are searching for customers that will bring in more money than their current customers or partners to turn the business profitable.

They should do something to GNOME3's UI so it would be much more usable like GNOME2 was
